Huge Fine For Health Food Store

Holland and Barrett was fined £500,000 for pest infestation. Environmental health officers found store infested with mice and food contaminated with mouse droppings. The store in London was closed immediately for 2 weeks.


Restaurant Manager Fined And Banned Following Food Poisoning Outbreak

A restaurant manager in Warwickshire was banned from a food business and fined, following after five diners was hospitalised after eating contaminated with Salmonella. Inspectors stated the outbreak was completely preventable if standards of food hygiene and safety had been followed by food handlers. There discovered poor temperature control, inadequate hand washing by staff after handling raw meat, and dirty equipment.


Cash And Carry Fined For Deadly Mislabelling

A cash and carry outlet in London was fined £6,000 for selling almond powder mixed with undeclared peanuts. Lives were put at risk when an ‘almond mix powder’ label was put onto a 10 kg box of ‘peanut and almond mix’


The Worst Areas In The UK For Food Hygiene Ratings

Food premises in Enfield, London, have the worst food hygiene rating in the UK with only 54% meeting basic standards. Other London boroughs in the top 10 for worst hygiene rating include Lewisham, Ealing, Harrow, Camden and Brent.
